Preaching Styles for Street Preachers

What prompts a street preacher to convict the world of sin? Doesn’t this push people away from God, rather than to Him? So many have wondered these questions, and here we will discuss them in full detail.

By no means do I have any personal vendetta against street preachers. In fact, I give them respect for having such a passion to teach the Word of God while people criticize them.

Many of the street preachers that I have witnessed first hand condemn the world of their mistakes rather than help them find God. For instance, I’ve been around some who will yell awful things at people. Saying, “You’re gay you have long hair” or “You’re going to hell you gambler!” because the man was walking with a chicken in a third world country. Though it’s likely that he was a gambler, but was it necessary to point out their sin in this manner? My favorite was when he said, “Repent you hooker” because the woman had her work clothes on from the mall, which consisted of a skirt that was just above the knees.

Preaching Styles That Aren’t Biblical

There is another way to preach rather than throwing stones at every person who walks by the street corner. Just ask yourself, “How did Jesus preach?” Did He condemn every sinner of all of their mistakes by yelling at them? No! He simply asked them to repent of their sins. Jesus however rebukes the religious people by calling them “Brood of vipers” many times. Brood of vipers means to the Jews an unclean animal, or “Off the purity scale” as the animal is unclean to eat. The greek term makes it more complicated, as serpents are used to describe a divine evil or danger. The religious people, Pharisees, probably acted a whole lot like these street preachers do now with their self-righteous attitudes.

“He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” John 8:7 KJV

Jesus says, “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” – Luke 6:37 Isn’t this as clear as it can get? Last thing I’m trying to do is confuse anybody, and we know “God is not the author of confusion” 1st Cor 14:33. The Words which are spoken are used to undercover the “Truth!” Judging and condemning others is just another means of sin. Just because some decide to sin differently than us, doesn’t make them any worse! “He who keeps the whole law, but stumbles in one point is guilty of all” James 2:10 We are all sinners and all in need of forgiveness, so we too must forgive!

Jesus said “You judge by human standards; I pass judgement on no one.” – John 8:15

Biblical Street Preachers Are Rare!

Should this continue to hinder others from finding God? It appears to be one of the biggest stumbling blocks for so many people, especially in the United States! So many Americans have told me how judgmental Christians are. This is the last thing any “Christ-Like” person should ever do! We should welcome the broken, sick, hookers, and drug dealers with arms wide open, just as Jesus had His open for us on the cross! God came down to save “all people” not just the widows and orphans, but every single person who walks this earth. The approach of the street preachers needs to be re-adjusted. There is no problem with telling them the Gospel; it’s only how to do it biblically!

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. Matthew 23:13 NIV

Jack goes walking into the grocery store, until Sam yelled at him and interrupted! These two men had no relations with one another, and this is the first time they’ve ever met. Jack is so surprised by the whole ordeal that he just walks away confused. The whole time Sam had been yelling at him for shaving his head and saying “You’ll never get to heaven and God can’t hear you!” In the Bible it says, “Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head” like the pagans do, but Jack didn’t know this. Later the next day, he meets up with his new friend, Roger, who he meets at the gym. Roger informed Jack that his hairstyle wasn’t proper, and that it was a sin. He even showed him the verse in Leviticus 19:27 where it states that clearly. Who do you think is in the proper place to rebuke? Who would you listen to?

Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. – Matthew 18:15 KJV

The Scripture above is quite clear, correct? That we are suppose to help our brothers out by exposing the sin in private. To publicly rebuke without a prior warning is to disobey God’s order! Thus, is a sin! Do not be “children of disobedience!” God designed this process for a reason. God didn’t make a mistake in writing the verse that way. It serves a purpose so that love will overcome evil. Now go and do likewise; love as God loves!

Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? – Romans 2:4 KJV

I really want to hear your point of view on this. Please comment below, even if you are in opposition of me.

Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts

Are we suppose to heal the sick and cast out demons? If God wants to use His people for this, wouldn’t you want to know?

Here I’m going to display many verses, but I ask that each of you pray to God for the “Truth”. God is the one who teaches us all things.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. – John 14:26

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:15-18

I’m excited to tell you that I’ve seen many people healed from all sorts of things! Read one of the latest articles – Prayer for Health Inside Hospitals = Miracles

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 2nd Timothy 3:1-5

This passage talks as if the miracles will never stop, but says in the last times that His people would actually deny its power. Am I missing something here? “His people” are denying “His power”! What about all these claims of missionaries in South America and Africa raising the dead up? How about the evangelists who pray over the sick and they get healed? Are they evil or just obeying the Word of God?

The book of Acts didn’t have “Amen” at the end, because the works of the Spirit are not done through our lives. God is the same yesterday, today and forever! He doesn’t change, but it’s obvious we are in the last days, as very few Christians believe in the power of God anymore.

There is another term that this goes, by: Christian Atheism. “Which is an ideology in which the belief in the God of Christianity is rejected or absent but the moral teachings of Jesus are followed.” – Wiki

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant. 1st Cor 12:1

God has never been absent in our personal lives. He will never force Himself into our lives either! If that were the case, then He’d be controlling our lives; ultimately forcing us to love Him. Thank God! He doesn’t want us as robots, but desires that we give ourselves wholly to Him.

“And it shall come to pass afterward,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your old men shall dream dreams,
and your young men shall see visions.
29 Even on the male and female servants
in those days I will pour out my Spirit. – Joel 2:28-32

This verse isn’t saying the gifts are only for the Apostles, but for “All flesh!” So the Holy Spirit will be given to all for equipping us to do His work. He does desire for us to “seek” after these spiritual gifts, and also to pray for healing and cast out demons. It’s vital though that whatever voice we hear doesn’t contradict the Word of God. The Holy Spirit would never do so!

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. – 2nd Timothy 3:16-17

Let’s take a look at Apostle Paul and what he said about preaching. Though Paul was a man of great wisdom; excelling in his studies as well as being an excellent speaker. He writes the following…

And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1st Cor 2:3-5

Praise God that He doesn’t require our wisdom to preach His Word! God only requires that we trust in Him, and do only what He says. Once we believe in God’s promises in the Bible, anything is possible! “What is impossible for man is possible for God” – Luke 18:27 Jesus says, “He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also”. I pray that anybody who is reading this, will get a hunger for God’s spiritual gifts.

Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. – John 14:11-14

Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts Task:

Spend time in prayer asking God to speak to you through 1st Cor 12,14 and Luke 11. Ask God to give you the gift you desire so His Kingdom can be spread through it. To earnestly desire something is to also seek after it. Just like a little kid will consistently ask his parents for a toy.

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! – Luke 11:13

Prayer of Salvation and Its Meaning

Prayer of SalvationThe Salvation prayer (a.k.a. Sinners prayer) isn’t a special formula that is required to be forgiven by God and go to heaven. Any prayer said out of your heart asking God forgiveness for our sins is all that’s required. Sin means “miss the mark” as an archer misses the target. To not obey all the 10 commandments, means to miss the mark. God requires us to be holy as He is holy. I know this sounds tough, but thankfully God has made a way!

Jesus died on the cross to connect us back to God. Jesus is Emmanuel God with us! Salvation means to be saved from the wrath of God and spend eternity with Him, now and forever! God loves us so much that He gave us the “easiest method” to find Him. What’s the method? Just believe and have faith!

The verses below will help you understand why we “confess with our mouth” and “believe in our hearts” to be “saved”.

Salvation Prayer Verses Explained

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10

We CAN NOT be saved through works! I don’t care how “good” of a person you think you are, it’s impossible! As sin separates us from God.

Not by works of righteousness, which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us. – Titus 3:5

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God – Romans 3:23

For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. James 2:10

10 Commandments = The Whole Law

The Ten Commandments

1. You shall have no other gods before me.
2. You shall not make for yourself a carved image.
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
5. Honor your father and your mother.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10. You shall not covet.

Once we see the need for forgiveness of our sin, we repent. The word “repent” means, to change our way of thinking. Many believes, it means to make a 180° or to turn around, but the Greek (metanoia) is “after/behind one’s mind”. If you now know something is sinful, then you need to change your way of thinking to adjust to your newfound knowledge.

Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. Ezekiel 18:30

The reason Jesus shed His blood for us was to be the perfect lamb sacrificed for our sins. To be a Christian means “Christ-like”, though many profess being a Christian, but don’t act like one. I’m not here to teach religion by any means, because you can be sealed with the Holy Spirit while remaining a Catholic or Jew AND STILL go to heaven!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. – John 3:16

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. – John 14:6″

Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. John 3:5

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:13-14

Prayer of Salvation From The Heart

Just say a prayer out of your heart. This is what touches God, not a repetitive prayer. Also, please don’t assume a one time act of faith that gives you permission to behave however you wish. We must be willing to repent for the mistakes we’ve done.

Example of Salvation Prayer:

Dear God, I come to You as a sinner, and I’m sorry for the wrong that I’ve done. I need Your forgiveness Lord.

I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son that came to die for me on the cross. You’ve made it so simple for me to know You. I just have to believe. I want to know You in a personal way.

You said in your Word, “That if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.”

I confess Lord Jesus over my life and believe with all of my heart that Jesus was raised from the dead. I accept Jesus Christ as my Savior and according to Your Word, I’m saved from my sin.

Thank you Jesus for washing my sins away, and accepting me just as I am. I repent and put You as King over my life. Your will be done and not my own.

In your Name, Jesus, I pray, Amen.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. – 2nd Corinthians 5:17

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. John 14:15-18

How To Discipline Children and Teach Morals

Our kids are the next generation, and it’s important that we teach them good morals and behaviors. All around the world, especially in western countries, we can see the lack of disciple in many children. It’s time we take the step and teach our kids how to respect authority. I’m going to share with you one simple principle that will radically change the way you view discipline!

The Big Picture About Parenting

Before we get our feet wet, it’s important to realize our faults as parents and teachers. Knowing the problem and realizing we have to change our way of thinking, makes the issue 50% solved.

Without proper authority established in a child’s life; will lead to terrible outcomes in their future. For instance: 8 out of 10 youth in prison come from fatherless homes.

Many women without strong fathers in their lives also end up from one broken relationship to the next; one marriage to the next. Secretly in search for their lost father, or a father figure. Not saying that all children are handicapped when they don’t have a father, but they do need a father figure. Somebody they can look up to and have as a mentor. These statistics are painful, but they don’t have to affect your family!

The biggest problem adults have with raising and discipline their children, is that they don’t bless them. Of course some parents don’t even punish for wrong behavior, but the opposite effect can happen if that’s all you do is punish! Ever notice in Jewish cultures how the next generation is always so blessed? They grow up with self-worth and confidence that they can take on the world. Well, that’s because their parents speak life into them! Each day without fail, their parents are telling them what a great success they will become, and that their future well be great! How can’t their children be inspired to do their best and make their parents proud after hearing this? I pray that you can speak this blessing over your spouse as well!

Teaching Isn’t So Hard!

So what is it about this Jewish culture that is so different from the way American Christians live? I’d guess that it has to do with the covenant relationship that is talked about in the Bible. A covenant relationship is a vow that isn’t based on conditions. Many secular Christians are so used to relationships being tied with conditions, just look at the dating system! Despite the children doing something wrong, they will still show them love because it’s a choice not a feeling. Showing love by punishing for all the bad things won’t register in a child’s mind. It’s very important to show them love, and build up their self-worth. Bitterness could brew up inside the child if they run off without being told they are loved!

The Proof of Love

Remember back when you were a child. The time you got spanked for something you did wrong, whether you deserved it or not. Do you think that after you were punished; your parents hugging you and telling you they did it because they loved you, would make a difference? YOU BET! Again, bless your children everyday and encourage them when they do wrong! Don’t just say you love them, but prove it by squeezing them tight just after spanking them. Whether you think spanking is biblical or not; science proves that those who have more pain receptors learn faster. Let me explain this so that all can understand. Suppose you swung a hammer and hit your thumb, and it hurt like crazy! You’d be sure to not repeat the same mistake again. The opposite can have effect too with different consequences!

Your Kids Will Be Thankful for Discipline!

Guiding your children how to respect authority, will be the most important thing you can teach them! I know that sounds radical, but allow me to put it into perspective for you. One day your little boy or girl will grow up to find a job or get married. When that day comes, the young man will have to respect his boss; the authority. Without properly teaching the young man how to respect authority, then it will be tough for him to submit and get promoted. The little girl will also have to submit under authority of her future husband. If she has been taught properly, then she won’t be contemplating divorce when she has a disagreement her husband. Instead, she will learn to submit by respecting authority, which also shows the spouse that he is loved.

It’s important as parents that we bless the next generation. Our kids will one day be parents as well, so our actions will echo for eternity! Bless your kids even when they do wrong! Be firm on your decisions, but don’t bark at them like a dog. Tell them what a great success they are to become as often as possible! Take the challenge, act on what you’ve learned here, and empower the next generation!

Evangelism Training

Many are scared to talk about God as they don’t want to force religion on anybody. I would agree with not wanting to force anything on anybody, as “Kindness of God, leads to repentance”? Are you willing to take a quick study through evangelism training so you can lead others to Christ? Would you tell this lost generation the truth?

Let me share a quick analogy with you… If I’m about to drink a cup of poison, but don’t know its poison, though you do. If I drink and die, does that make you guilty for not telling me? Its the same way…once you know the TRUTH. There is only one way to heaven and to be apart from God is eternity in everlasting fire, which is the cup of poison so many are about to drink.

There are many that read the Bible and cannot find the truth. Why?

So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.” Acts 8:30-32

It is our responsibility as Christians to preach the Gospel to the lost.

For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Cor 4:5-6

As Christians (meaning Christ-like) we are called to be a light in dark places. Whats the use of shining your light where there is alright light? You don’t turn on the lights if there is already a lamp giving you light? Its the same way, we’re not suppose to only remain within the church, but to also go out into the dark places.

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Rom 10:14-17

If His Word is in us, then we won’t be able to keep the Truth within us. Jeremy couldn’t keep quiet with what God was telling him to do. Even if it ment to give the prophecy to a king that would try to put him in jail. I’m not saying to to and get yourself thrown in jail for the Gospel’s sake, but to pray that God will give you a passion like this man had.

Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not. Jer 20:9

Who’s blood will be on your hands? Like I mentioned earlier, its time we speak up to those people who are about to drink a cup of poison. If we don’t then it is blood on our hands. Not that we have to force them to follow Jesus, but rather tell the truth about our sin and what Jesus did to save us. It’s up to God to save them not us, we aren’t able to do that, but we can share the loving message of freedom from sin.

When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. 19 Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. Ezek 3:18-19

Evangelizing

Here are a few simple methods you can use to evangelize. I challenge you to pick at least one of these methods, and apply it to your life.

Online Evangelism

View how many people are getting saved online through Global Media Outreach live stream.
Become an online missionary and volunteer at GMO or visit their site click here. I’ve personally meet some of the spokesman of GMO and couldn’t recommend them enough. They are asking for people to answer two emails a day with those who are getting saved online. We need your help for this is the generation of social media and technology!

Steps in witnessing to those around you

  • Pray for peace every time you enter a new place
  • Pray for a chance to be able to share your faith
  • Encourage those you meet by being friendly, then ask them if they need prayer. Allow God’s love to be shown through your life

Start a Bible Study

  • Invite people you know to your house for a Bible study
  • Go through 1 Chapter a week (preferably Gospel of John for non-believers and new Christians)
  • Have some questions written up to ask after you’ve read the chapter to encourage open discussion

Evangelism Training Is A Process

Tips: Don’t demand a commitment and don’t get upset when somebody doesn’t show up. Just meet with later and encourage them to come the next week. Non-believers will do this, so just expect it and be prepared.

  • When asking questions, ask them what is the Bible trying to say? If they say they don’t believe it, then thats okay, just help them see what the Bible is trying to say. Continue with the Bible study, without forcing anybody to believe. Allow God to convict them and reveal the Scriptures to them.

Join an Evangelism Team

This is something I’m personally involved in and enjoy it so much. I’m so blessed to have the best job in the world, telling many people about Christ. Each week I see so many people come to Christ, and become forever changed. A lot of them also get healed through a prayer of faith, and in extreme cases from broken backs to deaf ears. To God be the glory! Though the biggest miracle is when God reaches down and pulls a slimy sinner out of the murky clay and cleanses them with the blood of Jesus. Going house to house or being invited to evangelize at school etc., shouldn’t be done alone. The apostles didn’t go alone and neither should we.

And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ. Acts 5:42

“…how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, 21 testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” Acts 20:20-21

  • Again, I challenge you to apply one of these methods to your life. It is the most rewarding thing to lead somebody to Christ and their life be forever changed. The world will change one person at a time, starting with you. Make a comment below if you have any other methods you’d like to share, or if you’d like me to pray for guidance as you start evangelizing. God bless!
